An Iranian military commander on Sunday (August 16) offered a $30,000 bounty to Iranian combatants in exchange for killed or captured U.S. soldiers, the Tasnim news agency reported.
Iranian Army Commander-in-Chief Amir Hatami said during a speech in Tehran that any Iranian who captures or kills a US service member would receive a $30,000 reward from the Iranian people.
"We will provide a proper gift," he said, adding that the gift is "equivalent to $30,000, approximately 5 billion tomans."
Hatami's comments came as progress towards peace talks and oil tanker traffic through the strategic Strait of Hormuz remained halted, with no sign the warring parties were moving towards ending the conflict that the U.S. and Israel launched on February 28.
