India finished the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya with 85 medals, 21 gold, 27 silver and 37 bronze, making it the country’s second-best medal haul at the Games after the record 106-medal tally at Hangzhou 2023.
Archery was among India’s biggest success stories, with nine medals, including five golds. India swept all three compound team titles, while Kumkum Mohod won individual recurve gold and secured an LA 2028 quota.
Pranavi Urs created history by becoming the first Indian woman to win an individual Asian Games golf gold, before adding team silver with Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar. Shooters also produced landmark performances, with Neeru Dhanda becoming the first Indian woman to win Asian Games shotgun gold and later adding mixed trap gold with Kynan Chenai.
Athletics delivered India’s biggest medal haul with 24 medals, led by Gulveer Singh and Vithya Ramraj, while India’s women’s 4x400m relay team provided a dramatic gold. Boxing delivered three gold medals, making it India’s most successful Asian Games campaign in the sport by gold-medal count
India also ended a 44-year wait for women’s hockey gold, retained the men’s title, and defended both kabaddi and cricket crowns. Neeru Dhanda and Kumkum Mohod led the individual medal tally with three medals each, alongside Gulveer Singh and Vithya Ramraj.
