Thiruvananthapuram: BJP leader R Sreelekha has withdrawn her resignation as Thiruvananthapuram Corporation councillor, which she announced yesterday. She decided to withdraw after the BJP leadership persuaded her that it would address her concerns. Following the decision, she also deleted the WhatsApp message announcing her resignation.
Sreelekha joined the BJP in 2024 and was projected as a potential mayoral candidate in the local body elections. However, after the BJP came to power in the Corporation, it appointed VV Rajesh as mayor. She submitted her resignation to the mayor, who told the media she had decided for personal reasons.
Sreelekha had publicly expressed her dissatisfaction over not being considered for the mayor's post.
The BJP is hopeful that the issues will be resolved soon following discussions with her.
