External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Sunday held talks with Commander of US Pacific Command Admiral Samuel J Paparo with focus on boosting bilateral maritime security cooperation in the Indo-Pacific.
Admiral Paparo is on a six-day visit to India from Saturday to advance the US-India Major Defence Partnership and deepen military-to-military cooperation.
The US Pacific Command plays a key role in ensuring peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region by promoting security cooperation and responding to contingencies.
"Glad to meet @USPACOM Commander Adm. Samuel J. Paparo. Discussed advancing our security partnership and maritime cooperation in the Indo-Pacific," Jaishankar said on social media.
US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor also joined the meeting.

A US embassy readout said Admiral Paparo will engage with Indian officials on shared security priorities, including harnessing digital transformation and emerging technologies besides maintaining regional strategic stability.
"From emerging technology to maritime security, the United States and India are building a defence partnership equipped to meet the challenges of the future," it said.
"Admiral Paparo's visit underscores the strength of the Major Defence Partnership and reaffirms the United States' enduring presence and interests in the Indian Ocean region," it added.
