Many of us love pasta for its tender texture, which blends well with creamy sauces. October 25 marks World Pasta Day, celebrating the dish's cultural history, nutritional value and global popularity.
World Pasta Day was established following the first World Pasta Congress, held in Rome, Italy, on October 25, 1995. The congress is an international forum that brings together pasta producers, nutritionists and chefs. Pasta comes in a wide variety of shapes and types, including spaghetti, penne, and macaroni. Here is a simple white sauce chicken pasta recipe for all pasta lovers.
Ingredients
- Pasta – 1 cup
- Chicken – 1/2 cup, cut into small pieces
- Wheat flour – 1 tablespoon
- Onion – 1, finely chopped
- Carrot – 1/2, finely chopped
- Capsicum – as needed
- Milk – 1 cup
- Cheese – 1–2 slices
- Butter – 1 tablespoon
- Sugar – a pinch
- Chilli flakes – to taste
- Oregano – to taste
- Pepper powder – to taste
- Salt – to taste
- Olive oil- to fry
Preparation
Boil the pasta in salted water until tender, following the instructions on the packet. Drain the water and keep the pasta aside. Shallow-fry the chicken pieces in olive oil with a little salt and pepper until the chicken is fully cooked.
Heat a little butter in a pan and sauté the chopped onion, carrot and capsicum until they soften. Keep the cooked vegetables aside.
In the same pan, melt a tablespoon of butter over a low flame. Add the wheat flour and stir continuously for a minute without burning it. Gradually pour in the milk while stirring to prevent lumps. Cook until the mixture thickens into a smooth, creamy sauce.
Now add the cheese slices to the white sauce and stir until they melt; then add the cooked vegetables and chicken pieces, and mix well. Once everything is well coated, add the boiled pasta, salt, pepper, and a pinch of sugar. Stir until the pasta is evenly coated with the creamy sauce.
Sprinkle chilli flakes and oregano over the pasta for extra flavour. Serve hot and enjoy your homemade chicken white sauce pasta!
