More than 400 soldiers from 11 NATO countries are taking part in Arctic Shield 2026, a multinational exercise in southern Greenland aimed at training forces to operate in the challenging conditions of the High North.
The exercise is taking place on land, at sea and in the air around the village of Narsarsuaq, where troops are testing a range of military capabilities under Arctic conditions.
Arctic Shield forms part of NATO's broader Arctic Sentry operation.
Participating forces are also practising a variety of land-based military operations.
The exercise brings together units from across the alliance, including French infantry troops, Belgian drone units and Finnish special operations forces.
Home Guard units from Denmark, Sweden and Norway, as well as Canadian Arctic specialists, are also taking part.
Dutch marines are training separately in the Kangerlussuaq fjord system, while Germany, Poland and Slovenia are contributing support and observers.
