A massive flash flood swept through central Nepal on Wednesday, killing at least 100 people and leaving more than 750 missing, including 133 Indians. The flooding devastated Rasuwa, Dhading, Nuwakot and other districts, washing away bridges, roads and settlements and damaging several hydropower projects. India has sent 10 tonnes of humanitarian assistance and essential medicines to Nepal, with further relief supplies expected, while the World Bank has offered up to रु25 billion in emergency assistance. 37 people's location from Tamil Nadu yet to be confirmed
Whereabouts of 37 tourists from Tamil Nadu, who were reportedly on their way to a temple in the Himalayas are yet to be confirmed, officials said on Wednesday. Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay said that senior government officials have been put on the job to 'rescue swiftly, those who are missing'.
Thanjavur Collector R Revathi said that of the 57 tourists from the district, officials could account for 20 of them.
Speaking to PTI, the collector said they have identified the 20 people. "We do not know what is happening with the rest for now; we are awaiting more information," Revathi added.
Of the 20 identified, 11 are women, according to official sources. - PTI

IAF's C-17 transport aircraft carrying relief material to depart for Nepal
A C-17 Globemaster transport aircraft of the Indian Air Force, carrying relief material, is expected to depart for Nepal on August 27 to render humanitarian assistance.
Also, a C-130J transport aircraft of the IAF has been 'kept on standby', and is likely to depart for Nepal on Wednesday night, a source said.
Both these aircraft have been used in the past by India for ferrying relief material and personnel to countries affected by natural disasters, as part of the Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) initiative of the government.-PTI.

36-member Keralam team in Nepal safe, away from flash flood-hit areas
A team of 36 people from Keralam touring Nepal was safe and away from the areas affected by the devastating flash floods, a government source said here on Wednesday.
The Chief Minister's Office was in constant touch with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) for updates on Indians reportedly missing after the disaster, the source said.
The CMO has directly established contact with the tourist group from Kanhangad, Kasaragod stranded in Nepal, and they have confirmed they are safe. Continuous efforts are underway to reach and connect with all other stranded groups from the state.

At least 93 people have been rescued from affected areas, according to Bagmati Province Police. Thirty of those rescued are undergoing treatment at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu.
