Ukraine: A hardware store in Ukraine's Sumy was engulfed in flames after it was hit in a Russian drone attack on Monday evening (July 20).
The blaze tore through the Epicentr store, the only outlet of the chain in the city.
Sumy's regional military administration said in a statement on Telegram that efforts to deal with the aftermath were complicated by repeated attacks and the continued presence of Russian drones over the strike site, posing a threat to emergency responders.
Sumy has suffered badly from Russian bombardment since the summer of 2024, when Ukraine launched an offensive into Russian territory from the province. It was pushed out last year, after which Russia launched its own attack into the Sumy region, bringing the front line to within about 20 km (12 miles) of the city.
The attack came after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Monday that Kyiv had struck logistical facilities and an oil depot in the Moscow region.
