An Indian man was stabbed in a mall in Utah, USA over what is alleged to be a racial attack.
The suspect, identified as a 48-year-old Michael Larsen approached Syed Sohailuddin, a worker at the Valley Fair Mall and interacted with questions about his home country and religion, to which the victim answered as an Indian-Muslim, unprovokedly triggering Larsen who took out a knife and fatally stabbed Sohailuddin multiple times.
Sohailuddin remains in critical condition at a local hospital. The quick intervention of bystanders, who overpowered Larsen at the scene, likely prevented the attack from becoming a fatal incident.
Larsen was booked into Salt Lake County Metro Jail in an attempted murder charge, according to reports.
