Kathmandu: An Indian national was arrested on Monday in connection with a hit-and-run incident that killed a 48-year-old person in Nepal's Sudurpaschim Province, police said.
An Indian-registered car hit a motorcycle at Boradandi Chowk in Kailali district, killing Padam Chand, according to police.
The Indian national fled the scene after the incident but was later arrested by police from Godawari Municipality. He has been identified as Ashwin Kumar Singh, 42, a resident of Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi.
Chand was admitted to a local hospital in Dhangadhi, where he died, the police added.
Motorcycle driver Gautam Aer, who has sustained injuries in the incident, is undergoing medical treatment at a hospital in Dhangadhi, police said.
The police have initiated further investigation into the matter.
