A 33-year-old Indian national, Venkatesh Doppalapudi, died after his vehicle was swept away by flash floodwaters in the US state of Kansas during severe storms over the weekend.
Doppalapudi, an H-1B visa holder based in Nebraska, was travelling north from Houston when his car became submerged near Wellington in Sumner County after heavy rainfall triggered sudden flooding.
Rescue operations were delayed due to strong currents, with authorities deploying air units and drones before recovering his body on Sunday.
The Consulate General of India in Houston expressed condolences and said it is coordinating with the family and local authorities to facilitate legal formalities, including the repatriation of his mortal remains.
