US President Donald Trump on Tuesday criticized the US Senate’s passage of a War Powers resolution seeking to halt military action against Iran, saying it undermines Washington’s position.
In a post on his Truth Social platform late on Tuesday, Trump called the move "poorly timed and meaningless" and accused those who voted in favor of providing "comfort" to Iran and making his job "more difficult".
The Senate earlier approved the measure in a 50-48 vote, with four Republicans joining most Democrats to back the resolution, which would direct Trump to end US involvement in hostilities with Tehran.
The House of Representatives had already passed the legislation, marking the first time since the 1973 War Powers Act that Congress had adopted such a directive.
