Moscow: Russia and India are continuing efforts to expand bilateral trade and economic cooperation as the two countries work towards achieving a trade target of USD 100 billion by 2030, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday.
Speaking at the 12th Primakov Readings international academic and expert forum, Peskov described India as one of Russia's most important partners and highlighted the steady growth in trade between the two countries.
We are pleased to note that this volume is showing a steady uptrend. We will keep working along these lines.

India and Russia had set an ambitious target of increasing bilateral trade to USD 100 billion by 2030 during President Vladimir Putin's visit to India in December last year. Bilateral trade between the two countries currently stands at around USD 60 billion.
Peskov said India, as the world's most populous country and one of the fastest-growing economies, possesses enormous potential across multiple sectors.
He also underlined the significance of the strategic partnership between Moscow and New Delhi, describing it as a notably privileged relationship strengthened by cooperation in various international organisations.
"Our relationship is further reinforced by our joint participation in various international organisations. We highly value this partnership and are dedicated to enhancing our cooperation and exploring new horizons together," he said, according to Russian state media.
In a separate interaction with Russia Today, Peskov described India as one of the world's major countries that has achieved remarkable economic and social progress over the past 25 years.
He also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying the Indian leader had played a significant role in the country's development trajectory.
The remarks come as India and Russia continue to deepen cooperation across sectors including trade, energy, defence and technology.
