US President Donald Trump has said that a deal to end the West-Asia war will be signed on Sunday (14 June 2026) and that the strategic Strait of Hormuz would be "open to all" immediately afterwards. Trump commented the same hours after Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif remarked that the two sides had agreed on a framework for a peace deal.
However, Iran's Fars news agency, citing source, says Tehran's final decision on framework agreement with U.S. is still under review. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei cautioned against commenting on the timing of the signing.
The proposed memorandum of understanding calls for reopening the strait and lifting the U.S. naval blockade, sources on all sides of the talks said. Negotiations over Iran's nuclear program would take place afterwards.
The war, which began on February 28, has rattled global markets, tested regional alliances and intensified diplomatic efforts to secure a negotiated settlement. The war has also put a blockade on the Strait of Hormuz, through which roughly 20% of the global oil trade passes.

"The Deal is scheduled to get signed tomorrow, and immediately after it is signed, the Hormuz Strait is OPEN TO ALL," Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
However, Iran has cautioned against commenting on the timing of the signing.
"We will have to wait and see about the exact date of the signing of the memorandum of understanding, although it will not be tomorrow," state media quoted Iranina Foreign Ministry spokesperson Baghaei as saying.
