Nearly 8.4 million ticket requests have been made for next year's ICC Men's Cricket World Cup group-stage clash between India and Pakistan. The two sides will meet on October 10 at the 34,000-capacity Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. The venue, which will also host the final on November 21, has attracted almost eight million ticket requests for the title clash.
The 2027 edition of the tournament will be co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. The tournament opener on October 7 will be a repeat of the 2023 World Cup final, in which Australia stunned India in Ahmedabad.
While India-Pakistan remains one of the most highly anticipated fixtures on the cricket calendar and among the tournament's biggest commercial draws, recent encounters between the two sides have been largely one-sided. India have won their last nine meetings, with Pakistan's most recent victory coming in the 2022 Asia Cup.
According to an ICC statement, the tournament has received more than 120 million ticket applications, with the tally standing at 120,809,467 as of November 1. “2.8 million unique fans from 193 countries have registered for the opportunity to purchase tickets for the 14th edition of ODI cricket’s showpiece event,” the ICC said.

“With fewer than 20 days remaining until the ballot closes on 21 November, more than 32 million match registrations have been completed, demonstrating that demand for tickets is not limited to high-value fixtures or matches involving certain teams.” The 41 matches scheduled across eight venues in South Africa have attracted more than 105 million ticket applications. Matches involving the hosts have collectively received nearly 26 million requests across 11 fixtures, including their pre-seeded Super 7 matches.
In Zimbabwe, the cumulative number of ticket requests has crossed the 13 million mark, reaching 13,350,190.
India and Pakistan are placed in a group alongside Australia, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe and a qualifier. The other group comprises England, South Africa, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and another qualifier. The top three teams from each group, along with the best fourth-placed team, will advance to the Super 7 stage. The top four sides from that stage will then progress to the semi-finals.
