Patna: Mokama MLA Anant Singh on Friday said he would comply with the Supreme Court's directive to surrender by 1 December in the Dularchand Yadav murder case, while alleging that Janata Dal (United) MLC Neeraj Kumar had conspired to implicate him.

The Supreme Court issued the direction while hearing a petition seeking cancellation of the bail granted to Singh by the Patna High Court in March this year.

Singh, who was arrested in the case over allegations that he orchestrated Yadav's murder in October last year, said he had faith in the judiciary.

"I will abide by the directive of the Supreme Court and surrender myself before December 1. I have full faith in the judiciary that it will grant me bail again after subsequent hearings," he said.

Singh alleged that Neeraj Kumar had conspired to implicate him and subsequently filed a petition seeking cancellation of his bail.

Kumar rejected the allegation, saying he had "nothing to do with the filing of the petition".

"I am not even properly aware of the judicial decision. I have neither seen the order nor am I a petitioner in the case. Somehow, my name is being dragged here," he said.

Political fallout within JD(U)

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) working president Tejashwi Yadav sought to link the Supreme Court's directive to Singh's strained relations with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

Although Singh was a JD(U) MLA, he had campaigned for Jan Suraaj candidate Anuj Singh against his own party's nominee, Neeraj Kumar, in the recently concluded Patna Graduates' constituency election to the legislative council.

The JD(U) subsequently expelled Singh and his wife over alleged anti-party activities. The party also wrote to the Assembly Speaker seeking cancellation of Singh's membership of the House as per the rules.

"The judiciary is doing its work. Anant Singh himself alleged that he was being framed. When he shifted allegiance from our party to the NDA, the government became good for him. Now, only he will tell what the matter is," Yadav said.

Singh, however, dismissed the suggestion that the court's directive was the result of political vendetta by the government.

"I believe the government has not done anything against me. It is Neeraj Kumar's deed. I did not oppose the party or the government during the MLC elections. I just opposed Neeraj Kumar," he said.
