The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) in a post on X on Tuesday said that the movement has moved the Delhi High Court seeking an urgent night hearing for the release of detained leaders Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das.

The tweet read that the liberty of the detained leaders "cannot be sacrificed at the altar of political vendetta."

CJP legal head Ratan Singh also posted on X, saying that "justice must not wait."

The judicial custody of Ranka and Saurav Das was extended for two days on Monday by the Special Executive Magistrate (SEM) Court in Delhi, according to officials.

Both Das and Ranka were then taken back to the Tihar jail.

The duo was originally sent to five days of judicial custody on October 14 after they entered Jantar Mantar, which had been denotified as a designated protest site, by scaling its locked gates. The CJP leaders maintained that they had unfurled the national flag and raised slogans.

Meanwhile, the trespassing case involving the two CJP leaders has been transferred to the Crime Branch, police sources said.
