INDIA bloc leaders will meet President Droupadi Murmu at 8 pm today in connection with their demand for Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar's resignation over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
According to sources, the President's office confirmed the appointment on Friday morning.
A ten-member delegation, including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, and TMC Chairperson Mamata Banerjee, would be among the leaders expected to meet the President.

25,000 personnel deployed in New Delhi ahead of CJP protest
An unprecedented security clampdown has been enforced in the Capital ahead of Saturday, after Delhi Police denied permission to the Cockroach Janta Party to hold a protest at Jantar Mantar, with the deployment of 25,000 police and paramilitary personnel, closure of 57 metro stations and intensive checks at city's border points, railway stations, bus terminals, hotels and other sensitive locations.
According to police, the elaborate security arrangements are aimed at preventing protesters from staging an unauthorised sit-in at Jantar Mantar and to maintain law and order across the city amid the possibility of large-scale mobilisation of people.- PTI

'Vote chor' now carrying out vote dacoity in UP through SIR: Congress
The Congress on Friday accused Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar of carrying out "vote chori" in Uttar Pradesh and claimed that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is a "mischievous instrument" wielded by the CEC to perpetuate the rule of the "Diabolical Duo".Congress general secretary (communications) Jairam Ramesh shared an opinion piece from The Hindu which claimed that the SIR was termed an exercise to "purify" the electoral rolls, but in practice, it is riddled with methodological flaws and ad hoc rule changes, resulting in the deletion of a large number of genuine voters.

Mumbai-Delhi trains cancelled, Rajdhanis rescheduled ahead of CJP protest
Several long-distance trains from Mumbai to New Delhi were cancelled or rescheduled by the Central and Western Railways on Friday, a decision coming on the eve of the Cockroach Janta Party's protest in the national capital.
Western Railway said it has rescheduled the Mumbai Central-New Delhi Rajdhani Express (12951) and the Mumbai Central-Hazrat Nizamuddin August Kranti Rajdhani Express (12953) by five hours and cancelled the Bandra Terminus-Hazrat Nizamuddin Express (12247) and Mumbai Central-Hazrat Nizamuddin Duronto Express.
Apart from this, the WR has also cancelled Dr Ambedkar Nagar-New Delhi Express (20155), Indore-Hazrat Nizamuddin Express (09309), the Indore-New Delhi Express (12415) and Sabarmati-New Delhi Express (12957), it said.
The Central Railway cancelled the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT)-Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express (22221) and the CSMT-New Delhi Rajdhani Express (22209). - PTI

Delhi Police warns against CJP protest on October 10, says gathering 'illegal'
Delhi Police has warned against the proposed Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest on October 10, stating that Section 163 is in force in the national capital and any gathering would be considered illegal.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Shrishti Pandey said protests were not permitted at Jantar Mantar or any other location while the restrictions remained in force, warning that the police would take legal action against unauthorised gatherings.
“Section 163 is in effect, meaning protests are not permitted—neither at Jantar Mantar nor anywhere else. Any gathering will be considered illegal, and we would be compelled to take necessary legal action against it,” Pandey said.
The DCP urged people not to participate in the proposed protest, asking them to prioritise their safety and that of their families. - ANI -
