Thiruvananthapuram: Keralam Chief Minister VD Satheesan on Wednesday told the police that there was no need for an additional security vehicle, besides the pilot and one escort vehicle, in his convoy, official sources said.
The chief minister issued the instruction after the state police sought to add one more security vehicle to his convoy following the recent black flag protests by Yuva Morcha activists against him and other ministers, the sources said.
Even on Wednesday morning, as the chief minister was returning from the airport here, Yuva Morcha activists tried to jump in front of his convoy and waved black flags at him.

However, Satheesan, whose official car is accompanied by a pilot jeep and a escort vehicle, has declined the police request, the sources said.
The clarification from the officials came following news reports that the chief minister was unhappy over an additional police vehicle being part of his convoy while going to an event in the morning.
According to news reports, senior police officers later told the chief minister that the additional vehicle was not part of his convoy and had inadvertently ended up ahead of it as it was going to the same location.
