External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar hit back at a Pakistani journalist who accused India of sponsoring terrorism in Pakistan during an interaction at the United Nations on Friday.
“A terrorist country is asking me that question. Come on,” Jaishankar said in response.
The exchange took place after Jaishankar and Liberia’s Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti addressed the media at the UN headquarters on the Group of Friends on Safety and Security of Shipping and Seafarers.
The Pakistani journalist then asked Jaishankar when the Indian government would “stop sponsoring terrorism in Pakistan.”
India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Harish Parvathaneni, told the journalist: “You have heard your reply. You have heard your response, loud and clear.”
The exchange came a day after an Indian journalist asked Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, as he entered the UN headquarters, when Pakistan would “stop harbouring terrorists.”
