New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has transferred Special Judge Anu Grover Baliga, who was presiding over the designated fast-track court for paper leak cases, as part of a reshuffle involving 138 judges.
Judge Baliga had spent just over a week in the designated court after assuming charge on 25 July. Special Judge Ajay Gupta, who had earlier been hearing the paper leak cases, including the NEET matter, will replace her.
According to a Delhi High Court order issued on Saturday, Judge Baliga has been transferred to a special court constituted under the National Investigation Agency (NIA) Act to hear terrorism-related cases.
The high court also appointed Vikas Dhull, Prashant Sharma, Pulastya Pramachala, Kiran Bansal and Amit Bansal as judges in NIA courts.
Judge Baliga was appointed after the Delhi High Court, on 23 July, designated a special court to hear criminal cases arising from paper leaks and the use of other unfair means in public examinations.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the establishment of fast-track courts to ensure the swift disposal of paper leak cases.
The first hearing in the NEET paper leak case was held on 27 July, when proceedings were adjourned at the request of the defence counsel.
The matter has been listed for Monday, when the court is expected to consider the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) chargesheet and the bail applications of two accused.
The CBI has filed a chargesheet against 13 accused in the case, all of whom are currently in judicial custody.
On 12 May, the National Testing Agency (NTA) cancelled the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) (NEET-UG), which had been conducted on 3 May, following allegations of a paper leak. A re-examination was subsequently held on 21 June.
