Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) spokesperson Saurav Das stated in a post on X on Tuesday that the outfit had a meeting with the representatives of India government in which assurances were given regarding the withdrawal of FIRs and the taking of no punitive action in the future against protesters.

During the meeting, which lasted two-three hours, copies of notifications issued by Bihar and Assam governments guaranteeing FIR withdrawals against protesters were shared with the CJP, Das wrote.

The outfit was also given assurance regarding the release of all those who were detained as part of the CJP-led protest against examination irregularities.

Guarantee notifications by the Union government and states ruled by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA)/BJP will be issued by tomorow, Das added on.

CJP stated in its remarks that no protester will be left alone by the outfit.

The assurances were given by governmental representatives following a press conference jointly hosted by CJP and senior advocate Kapil Sibal in which the outfit warned that it would resume its agitation if the government did not provide written assurances, guaranteeing no fresh FIRs and withdrawal of criminal cases against protesters and organisers by Tuesday.

The CJP had called off its student protest on July 25 after the union government had accepted all of its major demands, including the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan from the post of Education Minister.
