New Delhi: BJP MP Nishikant Dubey on Monday accused Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi of acting as a ‘puppet’ in the hands of foreign powers and said that he will try to move a proposal in Parliament for Gandhi's removal from the post.
The Godda MP said he will also urge the government to constitute a Special Investigation Team to probe Gandhi's foreign visits between 2004 and 2026, his associates and his alleged ‘secret agreements’.
"Rahul Gandhi is a puppet sold into the hands of foreign powers. He is merely a puppet through whom foreign powers operate. It is only because he belongs to the Gandhi family that he commands such stature," Dubey told reporters in the Parliament House complex.
The BJP had on several occasions raised questions over the funding of Gandhi's overseas visits, alleging that the expenditures were disproportionate to his declared income.
Dubey alleged that there is no transparency about Gandhi's overseas visits.
"From 2004 to 2026, no one knows about any of his foreign visits. He goes abroad, but no one knows whom he meets, what he does there or how he discusses funding for participating in various movements," he said.
Dubey said that during his foreign visits, instead of speaking about India's policies, Gandhi speaks against the country and the government.
"Rules relating to the Leader of the Opposition say that whenever he travels abroad, he should speak about the country's policies and the government's policies. Rahul Gandhi, during all his foreign visits, has spoken against the country, against the government and against the Constitution, instead of India's policies," he said.
Accusing the Congress of ‘involvement in activities aimed at disrupting the country’, Dubey alleged that the party has played ‘the biggest role’ in a ‘conspiracy’ to divide the country.
"All these people are involved in a conspiracy to divide the country. The kind of developments that are coming to light, the people who funded them, the people who provided money and the activities that have taken place -- in all of these, the Congress has played the biggest role," he said.
