Delhi/Mumbai: More than 10 people were confirmed to have died in rain-related incidents across the country on Thursday.
Torrential monsoon rains unleashed widespread destruction across several parts of the country , inundating roads, uprooting trees, damaging property and disrupting normal life as authorities scrambled to restore normalcy.
Roads and residential areas remained submerged in several cities including Mumbai and Delhi, with commuters wading through knee-deep water and traffic crawling on major roads and highways.

Elderly man hurt in Jul 6 tree fall dies in Maharashtra hospital
A 64-year-old man who was injured in a treefall incident in Thane city amid very heavy rains on July 6 died on Thursday while undergoing treatment at a hospital, a civic official said.
The man passed away in a private hospital at around 2pm, Thane Resident Deputy Collector Sandeep Mane told PTI.
Pandurang Bikhu Bhavad was returning home on July 6 when a huge tree near the Regional Transport Office (RTO) fell on him, local Shiv Sena corporator Vikas Repale said.
This is the fourth rain-related death in Thane district this monsoon, officials pointed out.

Heavy rains continue in Kerala; IMD issues orange alert in 3 districts
As heavy rains continued in parts of Kerala, the IMD on Thursday issued an orange alert in three districts of the state for the day.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert in the districts of Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad.
It also issued a yellow alert in six other districts -- Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kannur and Kasaragod -- for the day.
An orange alert indicates very heavy rain of 115mm to 204mm and a yellow alert means heavy rainfall between 64mm to 115mm.

3 killed, 800 evacuated in Maharashtra
Monsoon-related incidents have claimed three lives and forced the evacuation of nearly 800 persons across Thane district in the past week, while a lightning strike in the latest weather-related incident left two persons injured, officials said on Thursday.
The district administration said in an official release that the fatalities include one person each from Thane city, Ambernath, and Mira Bhayander.
A total of 11 persons have sustained injuries in various rain-related accidents during the season, the official said.

Rainfall disrupted traffic on 107 routes
According to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), landslides and rockfalls in several mountainous areas amid rainfall disrupted traffic on 107 routes across the state, including nine state highways and one Border Roads Organisation (BRO) road.
Information from the SEOC indicates that an old, unoccupied house in the Tehri district's Kaddukhal area was damaged after being struck by a landslide on Wednesday evening. However, the administration had already evacuated two restaurants and some shanties located in the potential danger zone as a precautionary measure.
