As monsoon activity intensified across India, several parts of the country, including Maharashtra, New Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala and Odisha, witnessed incessant rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds. In Uttar Pradesh, a portion of the road connecting the Kanpur-Lucknow National Highway with the Ganga Expressway in Unnao district was caved in after the first monsoon rain, with the washing away of the underlying soil.
