Los Angeles: Actor Inde Navarrette, the breakout star of the smash-hit horror movie 'Obsession', will next feature in 'The Waffle House Index', a sci-fi thriller.

The project, which was recently picked up by Apple Original Films, comes shortly after Navarrette was cast as Rogue in Marvel Studios’ upcoming 'X-Men' feature, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

'The Waffle House Index' will be directed by Louis Paxton from a screenplay by Andrew Nunnelly, whose script was featured on the 2025 Black List.

Hollywood star Brad Pitt’s banner Plan B Entertainment will produce the film.

The story centres on a Waffle House waitress whose night shift takes a dangerous turn when a gun-toting stranger arrives at the restaurant. What follows includes a massive flood, killer crocodiles, a nuclear explosion, aliens, and a magical bunker beneath the Waffle House.

The title refers to an informal measure used to assess the severity of hurricanes based on the operational status of Waffle House restaurants in affected areas. A green status indicates full service, yellow signifies limited operations, and red indicates the restaurant has been forced to close.

Navarrette will also serve as an executive producer on the movie.

Navarrette emerged as one of Hollywood’s most sought-after young actors following her role in 'Obsession', a horror drama from filmmaker Curry Barker that grossed over USD 505 million worldwide and became a pop culture phenomenon.

She has also appeared in the popular Netflix series '13 Reasons Why' and The CW series 'Superman & Lois'.
