Los Angeles: Actors Willem Dafoe, Jonathan Bailey and Peter Dinklage are the latest additions to the cast of ‘Lincoln In The Bardo’.

The film adaptation of George Saunders' 2017 bestselling novel is directed by Duke Johnson, who is producing the film alongside Saunders, according to the entertainment news outlet Deadline.

Tom Hanks will also produce the project, which is a hybrid of live-action and stop-motion animation, through his Playtone banner with longtime collaborator Gary Goetzman.

Hanks will play Abraham Lincoln in the film.

‘Lincoln in the Bardo’ explores one of the most intimate moments of Lincoln’s life, centring on his relationship with his recently deceased son. The feature mixes history and imagination in a story that unfolds through an ensemble of characters, reads the official logline.

Dafoe will play the role of Reverend Everly Thomas, the ghost of a minister who died believing he would go to heaven, but, to his dismay, found out otherwise.

Bailey will voice Roger Bevins, the ghost of a young gay man who took his own life over a failed love affair and instantly regretted it.

Dinklage is voicing Hans Vollman, a ghost obsessed with his dream of being reunited with his wife.

The film is being produced under Starburns Industries and Playtone banners. George Saunders, Steven Shareshian, and Aaron Mitchell are executive producing the film.
