New Delhi: The Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) has announced Pachinko star Kim Minha as the host of this year's opening ceremony.
Minha made her debut in 2016 and has built a distinctive body of work across film and television over the years. She gained international recognition for her portrayal of young Sunja in the globally acclaimed Apple TV series Pachinko, based on the novel by author Min Jin Lee.
After earning widespread acclaim for her performance as young Sunja, Minha went on to star in popular K-dramas such as Light Shop, Way Back Love and Typhoon Family.
BIFF selected Kim Minha in recognition of the depth and emotional precision she brings to every role, as well as her growing presence as a new-generation star. Known for her poised yet spirited presence, she is expected to bring warmth and confidence to the opening ceremony and set the tone for this year's festival, BIFF said in a release.
The 31st Busan International Film Festival will be held from 6 October to 15 October at the Busan Cinema Center and other venues across Busan.
