India reclaimed gold in the Women's 4X400 m relay at the Asian Games. The team of Kiran, Prachi, Poovamma and Vithya Ramraj clinched gold with a time of 3:29.69.
Vithya, who ran the last lap, snatched the lead while entering the home stretch, pushing ahead of China's Siyu Zuo.
China (3:31.02) were relegated to the bronze-medal position by Bahrain, which took silver, clocking 3:30.21.
India had settled for silver in the relay event at the previous edition in Hangzhou, with Bahrain taking gold with a Games Record of 3:27.65.
Indian women would be delighted to reclaim their crown having been gold medallists in the 2014 and 2018 editions. Poovamma was the only member of those gold-winning teams, making this a third relay gold in her kitty.

This was India's sixth gold of the ongoing edition and only the first in track & field. India had settled for silver in four athletic events, with Ancy Sojan missing out on a gold in the final jump of the final.
Meanwhile, Indian men could not replicate the success of the women's team, and settled for bronze in their 4X400 m relay final that followed.
The Indian team of T Vishal, Dharmveer, Rajesh Ramesh and T Manu finished third on 3:01.61, while Japan (3:00.75) and Qatar (3:00.93) bagged gold and silver respectively.
India were gold medallists in men's 4X400 m relay in the previous Asian Games and silver medallists in the one before that, in 2018.
