Indian carrier Air India has extended the cancellation of all flights to and from Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh, Dammam and Jeddah until October 20, 2026, amid escalating security concerns following missile and drone attacks claimed by Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels.

The airline had earlier cancelled flights to the three Saudi cities until October 17. Air India Express had also suspended flights to Saudi Arabia until that date.

“In view of the evolving situation in Saudi Arabia, all Air India flights to and from Riyadh, Dammam and Jeddah stand cancelled until 20 October 2026,” Air India said in a post on X on Friday.

The airline said it was closely monitoring developments and continuously assessing the situation to ensure the safe resumption of operations. Passengers affected by the cancellations are being offered a full refund, it added.

Other Indian carriers have also extended flight suspensions. IndiGo announced on Thursday that cancellations to Saudi Arabia would continue until October 24. Akasa Air said it had extended the suspension of flights to and from Riyadh until October 24 and Jeddah until October 21.

The disruptions come amid a series of attacks targeting Saudi Arabia, including strikes affecting airports in Riyadh and Dammam. The Houthis have claimed responsibility for attacks involving ballistic missiles and other projectiles targeting Saudi facilities.

The attacks on civilian infrastructure have heightened security concerns and prompted airlines to reassess the risks associated with operating flights to the kingdom.

Meanwhile, India on Thursday issued an updated advisory for its nationals in Saudi Arabia, urging them to follow instructions from local authorities and remain indoors in the event of an aerial attack.

The Indian Embassy in Riyadh also advised Indian nationals against filming, publishing or sharing information related to efforts to intercept or counter missiles and drones, warning that such actions could expose them to legal liability under local rules.
